Tenants' organisation BRES
BRES is the tenants' organisation of SLS Wonen. We regularly meet with SLS to discuss various subjects, such as:
- rent increases
- the provision of services
- increases of other costs (servicekosten)
- the communication between SLS Wonen and its tenants
- the policy of SLS Wonen on different themes, etc.
SLS Wonen must take our opinion seriously. In a written agreement three important rights for BRES have been described:
- The right to receive important information. This means that SLS Wonen is compelled to inform BRES about certain issues.
- The right to give advice. BRES is allowed to advice SLS Wonen in certain matters. SLS Wonen can't put this advice aside without informing BRES about the reasons why.
- The right of disapproval. SLS Wonen can't make certain policy decisions without BRES's approval.
If you have any questions or complaints about SLS Wonen and you don't know where to go, just send us an e-mail. We will answer you as soon as possible.

Every tenant should be satisfied with the quality of his living accommodation, as he should be with the related services provided by SLS Wonen. This naturally also holds for international students, who only live in Leiden for a short period of time.
If you're experiencing a problem with SLS Wonen, the best thing you can do is:
Try to come to a solution with an employee of the concerned SLS Wonen department. If that does not help, contact the head of that department. If you are still dissatisfied with the way SLS Wonen dealt with your problem, then write a letter (clearly stating that you are filing a complaint) to the director of SLS:

What can BRES do for you?
BRES looks after the interest of all tenants of SLS Wonen. If you need information or counsel regarding your problem or if you are still dissatisfied with the solution of SLS Wonen, you can contact BRES. Send us an e-mail describing your problem and the steps you have already undertaken. We will contact you as soon as possible and we will intermediate between you and SLS Wonen.
